Il virus della varicella, una volta contratto, permane all\u2019interno delle terminazioni nervose anche dopo la guarigione. Pertanto, le persone che hanno avuto la varicella possono sviluppare, anche dopo decenni, una nuova manifestazione dell\u2019infezione:<strong> l\u2019herpes zoster o \u201cfuoco di Sant\u2019Antonio<\/strong>\u201d. Il virus si riattiva solitamente quando le difese dell\u2019organismo si abbassano e per questo motivo \u00e8 pi\u00f9 comune nei soggetti anziani, immunodepressi, diabetici, malati oncologici o in situzioni che possono causare un forte stress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019herpes zoster si presenta solitamene sul <strong>tronco, a livello toracico,<\/strong> e ha una caratteristica disposizione \u201ca banda\u201d, solo da un lato del corpo. Le<strong> vescicole <\/strong>si accompagnano al dolore (nevralgia erpetica), che pu\u00f2 essere molto forte e difficile da trattare con i farmaci.
